Pakistani Scientist Helped Discover 'God Particle'

ISLAMABAD - The pioneering work of Abdus Salam, Pakistan's only Nobel
laureate, helped lead to the apparent discovery of the subatomic "God
particle" last week.

Salam, a child prodigy born in 1926 in what was to become Pakistan after
the partition of British-controlled India, won more than a dozen
international prizes and honours. In 1979, he was co-winner of the Nobel
Prize for his work on the so-called Standard Model of particle physics,
which theorizes how fundamental forces govern the overall dynamics of
the universe. He died in 1996.

  • the worst part of this sad piece of propaganda, is that it is so obvious as to be pathetic, here is the first paragraph of the article which you intentionally omitted:

"The pioneering work of Abdus Salam, Pakistan's only Nobel laureate, helped lead to the apparent discovery of the subatomic "God particle" last week. But the late physicist is no hero at home, where his name has been stricken from school textbooks.

Praise within Pakistan for Salam, who also guided the early sta More..

  • Fellow LiveLeakers. Stand up to these idiots!

    1. Abdus Salam was born in Jhang, Punjab, British India. Not Pakistan!
    2. He was part of a minority Muslim sect that has been persecuted by the government and murdered by the hundreds by Taliban militants who view Ahmadis as heretics.
Had he been alive today he would be hunted down and killed by the rest of you filthy savages!
    3. Now that it suits YOU, you bring up his name, trying to take credit for his hard work, as if that somehow would make you More..

  • Don't break your arm patting yourself on the Pakistani back over this one. Pakistan has only ONE Nobel Prize. That's embarrassing.

As for the team that has worked on the "God Particle" - there have been more than 5000 scientists doing this work.

No, it would have been the HIGGS BOSON.

the Higgs Boson was dubbed the “Goddamn Particle” by Leon Lederman since it was seemingly impossible to isolate. Lederman, a leading researcher in the field, wanted to title his book “The Goddamn Particle: If the Universe is the Answer, What is the Question?” But his editor decided that the title was too controversial and convinced Lederman to change the title to “The God Particle: If the Universe is the Answer, What is the Question?
