  • a lot of the technologies that these racing teams develop, mostly in safety and efficiency, end up making their way to consumer vehicles today. i just wish they'd pass me the damn keys already :)

That thing about passing down the technologies to consumer vehicles is gay. You offset that by looking for the keys to the race car.

    • @CatEatDog oh, so aerodynamic science, fuel efficiency and crash/impact safety is gay stuff? or is it my appreciation of the never ending research and development and desire to see what driving at the pinnacle of engineering is like, gay?

the only faggot here is you

Yes, those things are gay. Driving for the pinnacle of engineering is ocd. When applied to racing at the Indy 500, it is awesome. Otherwise, it is gay.

It awesome we do this stuff for the Indy 500, gay to think how nice it is to apply the discoveries to consumer vehicles.

It is like justifying space exploration by the science that is learned. The science is cool, but come on, isn't it cool enough to fly a craft between Saturn's rings from 750 million miles out? Why do you More..

  • Would love to see the aftermath.

  • the rear-ender was surprising, i didnt think his head would have lifted as much as that.
15 years ago and that dummy would have lost his 2 legs in the frontal hit.

    • @Mc Sqweebs Even if the car could survive the crash and not crush the driver the physics of the impact alone would be deadly.

    • @Epic_Beard_Man Still would be awesome to see =).

    • @Epic_Beard_Man Do you remeber that wreck with....Arie Luyendyk maybe, hit the wall almost head on quite a few years ago, they had just put accelerometers in the cars and they later said it measured 100 g's on impact. Insane.
I think it did break his back though.

    • @jfm8561 Yeah there have been some insane crashes. I remember Zanardi crashing and recording some of the highest G's ever. I think he was even temporarily blinded because of bruising of his retinas from the g force or something like that. He was pissed because he wasn't going to be allowed to race until his vision recovered...

    • @Epic_Beard_Man Zanardi man, that poor guy lost it all...

  • It amazing how the front suspension fails in the rear end crash test. That must have been a pretty high speed crash for the wheels to have enough inertia to buckle the suspension like that.

You deserve a treat for noticing. I had thought the front failed on the rear crash, but then thought not, then you caused me to double check, and you were right!

What do you want for a reward?

  • The takeaway is... don't crash and you'll be just fine.

  • After the crash test begins the main work of the engineers. Analysis piece by piece. Hitec pure. Cool cars.

Question: how come some videos restart at the beginning when you try clicking a spot on the timeline slider thingy?
