Holy shit.... RIP and everything but that was stupid.
I saw basically the same thing happen in Mexico when I was a kid. In that situation, the post on the ball hitch of the lead vehicle snapped and the steel hook attached to the strap snapped straight back through the passenger side of the windshield of the vehicle that was being pulled out. It hit the woman who was sitting in the passenger seat right in the face and killed her instantly. Ended that beach party pretty quickly.

I'm into off-roading and as you see that is the worst thing you can do is stand between two trucks and a tow strap! STUCK ON STUPID.
I've seen a video of pickup pulling out a blazer from the mud then the tow strap snaps and goes through the pickups back window on the passenger side, no one was hurt, driver shit himself!
