Shocking video of a Florida traffic stop shows a driver speeding off and an officer springing into action.

The Fort Myers officer jumped into the moving car through the
driver-side door, and while the officer escaped uninjured, the driver is
now in the Lee County Jail.
"One of the officers is reaching in an attempt to extract the driver
he's caught in the vehicle and he has a choice to make - take a chance
of getting run over by the vehicle or get inside the vehicle he chose to
get in the vehicle and attempt to stop it," explains Fort Myers Police
Department Captain Dennis Eads.
Police say the altercation continued for an entire block before ending.


"He's in the vehicle with the driver in the driver compartment and
eventually he's able to turn the steering wheel and get the keys," said
Eads.
He wrestled the keys from the driver, Keith White.


White was arrested for aggravated battery on an officer and resisting arrest.


"This individual has a warrant for driving on a suspended driver's
license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a
concealed firearm," said Eads.
Both the officers escaped without injury.


"Had the officer became disengaged and pulled underneath the vehicle,
he would have been run over and quite possibly dragged," said Eads.By Kevin Held
