  • It must burn the Russian Navy that they have to play second fiddle to the US Navy.

    • @2Phast4Rocket Everyone knows they play second fiddle to the US navy, thats an indisputable fact. Post Soviet Russia's navy doesnt even register on the same scale.

The question is apart from the Chinese (who are actually building carriers), nobody is even bothering attempting to change the US Navy's total dominance of the seas.

The Chinese PLAN are dacades from even fielding a blue water navy. They won't compete with the USN for the forseeable future!

Their carrier, the former Varyag, is merely a training vessel that lacks the striking power of a modern CATOBAR supercarrier. Of which the US has 11 and another 8 in reserve!

    • @mikedelta12 I never said the Chinese were close or gonna succeed, its just that unlike the Russians and the Brits, the Chinese are actually trying to stand on their own two feet instead of wallowing in nostalgia of greater days and bending over at every sight of the US.

Russians will never admit it but their military capabilities are nowhere in the league of the US with the exception of nukes.

The Chinese are trying to stand on their own two feet true, but by necessity! The huge glaring weakness in China's ambition to become a superpower, economic or otherwise is her total inability to protect her own trade lanes. China has become a maritime economic nation but sorely lacks the Navy to protect her trade. That means that until she can challenge the USN, the US can turn off her trade at any given time and by doing so her economy! The USN need not even venture near china to cr More..

  • During these exercises, intially most of these vessels head over to Pearl Harbor area in Honolulu. Here on Kauai, being that we have the Barking Sands Pacific Missle range facility, a lot of these exercises with these fleets of vessels come throught. Pretty amazing, and impressive with the sea going vessels as well as the Aircraft which support them. At times, during the evenings, you can actually see the 'Arcs' of the missles and missiles trails themselves. A lot of firepower out there in the o More..
