Police Say Woman Lead Them On Wild Chase CLEBURNE TEXAS ― 12/18 A 45-year-old woman, driving with her young children, is accused of leading Cleburne police on a wild, high-speed chase Sunday and police dash cam video shows it all.
Cleburne police say the woman got their attention after swerving her vehicle back and forth.
Officers say Laura Ann Brown, of Blum, refused to pull and took off leading them on what would be a wild 22-minute chase.
The chase starts in Cleburne when an officer notices a woman driving erratically.
The driver has her first near miss about two and half minutes into the chase. A minute later she cuts right through a park. That's when another police car tries to cut her off. The officer misses the suspect and winds up hitting another car.
When looking at the dash cam video you hear the officer saying, 'We've got several kids in the back seat.'
The chase soon leaves Cleburne and continues on Texas Highway 174 heading south. According to police, Brown was traveling at a speed of 90 miles per hour. While traveling at that high rate of speed, the driver starts passing cars.
Video shows that Brown barely avoided several head-on collisions. At times she appears to be aiming right at oncoming traffic. There was one close call with an 18-wheeler and minutes later with another big-rig.
At one point Brown sped around two motorcycles and barely misses colliding with two more 18-wheelers.
During the final minutes of the chase the female driver appears determined to hit someone as she forces three cars to the side of the road. Finally, about 22 minutes into the chase, the driver slams head-on into a pick up, flipping the truck into the air.
The driver of the pick-up, 70-year-old Omer Moore, is in critical condition. Laura Brown was arrested and her two daughters, ages five and six, are now in the custody of child protective services.
Brown is charged with two counts of Evading Arrest – Causing Serious Bodily Injury (3rd Degree Felony) and two counts of Endangering a Child (a state jail felony) as well as several outstanding traffic warrants.
