I realize this is a far more complicated issue than most people realize but in the end you have to remember that you're better off alive than dead. No matter what else might happen in your life, you need to go on and grow stronger from the struggle. Your family and friends will NOT be better off without you, nor will the rest of the world, no matter how little you think of yourself at the moment.

Yes, this is probably the most depressing time of the year but if things get bad just remember you're never on your own. Find someone to talk to. Even if you're a total dickhead you can bet that people still think you're too valuable to lose and if they don't then they don't know what they're talking about.

Note to all: Be very, VERY careful to keep your comments respectful.

  • Even though I'm not all for the war the fact is there are Americans who are putting their lives on the line everyday for their country. As (american) civilians we should respect that whether we agree with it or not. PTSD is no fucking joke. I feel bad for those families who have to go through that trauma

  • What I want to know is how many of these soldiers were on antidepressant medications ..
These drugs they hand out like its water have very serious withdrawals when stopped abruptly... But worse is that they fog the brain and make some people feel nothing, no joy no sadness ..just numb to things, but that for some does not feel right..it sucks.. So what they do is stop taking them , well that's the worst thing to do..
Parts of the brain that were shut off by the drugs all of a sudden are th More..

  • I ran across a lot of suicides, both in theater and in CONUS.

Yeah, it is a hidden epidemic that is probably going to get worse, especially with the upcoming drawdown.

  • 11+ years of war with multiple deployments and they are just now doing this? Seems they are only trying to help because the outcry from the public or loved ones who were effected. In other words, it's the US Army covering their ass.

    • @Drox Same story that's been going on in the political sector since the beginning of time. They don't care.

Lions led by lambs. These dickhead politicians will never understand the realities of War unless they've served or lost someone that's served.

  • Hand each soldier a oz of weed when coming back to the U.S, i guarantee you will see a big decrease in suicides.
The ones that want to commit suicide will keep forgetting where they left the gun, and will be to lazy to get off the couch to go look for it.
