Surveillance Video Shows Shooting At Mexican Restaurant

Lakewood Police released surveillance video Tuesday of an armed robbery and shooting at a Viva Burrito restaurant in the 6700 block of West Colfax.

The robbery happened at about 12:30 a.m. on July 22 when, according to police, two Hispanic males walked into the restaurant, approached the male employee and demanded money.

“The suspect produced a handgun and fired, hitting the clerk who was able to run out of the business,” said Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis.

Security video shows the suspects first attempting to open the cash register, and then giving up and grabbing the register and leaving.

The employee was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The first suspect is a short Hispanic male with short dark hair, a yellow shirt, blue jeans and armed with some type of a handgun. The second suspect is also a Hispanic male wearing a maroon or red shirt with a panty hose type stocking over his entire face and head.
