While it used steam engines, the entire enterprise was presumably able to run on coal as practically its only fuel.
But diesel engines are more efficient. No doubt it's worth the trouble of transporting and storing their fuel.
I'm guessing they were pouring the steel into billet molds.
Voted.

I can't imagine working around all that molten metal. I would think those workers age quickly with the different chemicals and the stress of the noise and physical labor. Nice find Cleaner!

Cool. They have their old steam locomotives working out the ends of their useful lives moving crucibles and stuff at the iron works.

Excellent video Cleaner.... Your right..one view is NOT enough. Thanks for another one of your great uploads
Those are some massive engines. very well maintained to be doing the round the clock work they are doing. Would be nice to see their maintenance program on a video

thanks LitFL, you're right, I've watched it three times - and still love it! when the first loco pulls out it helpfully has the tare weights painted on the side in both English and Chinese script, 115 tons for the loco and 25 tons for the tender, 140 tons in total, they're massive beasts alright!
somewhere on my uploads there are several maintenance vids of steam loco's, if you like this stuff they're well worth checking out.

In about 80 years time people will be viewing this vid with the same level of fascination as the London/Thames vid from 1935.
