Father, Son Charged With Threatening Sarah Palin
By IB Times Staff August 19, 2011 10:49 AM EDT A Pennsylvania man and his son were arrested on charges on making hundreds of harassing phone calls to Sarah Palin's family and lawyer.
Craig Christy, 47, and his son Shawn, 22, were apprehended at the Allentown FBI office. The pair allegedly called Palin's attorney more than 400 times between Aug. 1 and Aug. 9 and reportedly left profanity-filled messages that included threats of sexual assault on Palin, death threats and kidnapping, according to authorities."I'm going to ransom your f--- children. By the time I'm done you're going to be nobody," one of the messages allegedly said.
Palin, her father and her friend, Kristan Cole, requested restraining orders against Shawn Christy last year, claiming he sent them a receipt for a gun purchase and said he was buying a one-way plane ticket to Alaska, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Temporary restraining orders were issued against the Christys in April.
The father-son duo were indicted by a federal grand jury in Alaska on Wednesday.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Karen Christy, who is Craig's wife and Shawn's mother, said she believed Palin and her son had a "sexting" relationship in 2009 and since then, the family has been persecuted by the former governor and her connection with law enforcement officials.
