  • 8 FRIKKEN TOURS?!!! Hell, if you did 3 tours in Vietnam they sent you home, period! And you had to volunteer for the second, and the third, they could not "Stop-Loss" you!! Anybody want to guess after which of the EIGHT tours did he stop volunteering but they sent him anyway?

Research after world war 2 found that after 200 "combat days" (exposed to enemy fire and/or possibly enemy action) a soldier was mentally worn out and almost non-functional. Many Iraq and Afghan v More..

  • Now I remember why I stay away from Liveleak comments. Thanks Ranger, for serving your country and for being the best of the breed. Sorry it weighed so heavy that you couldn't bear it and I'm sorry that you couldn't get the help you needed. And fuck those ones who disrespect you here.

  • I did a year and five months in the Marines all the training and was about to deploy. I didn't stay in as long as this man RIP. By the time I got to my unit I came to the conclusion that my chain of command was evil... the military was evil. I put up with the hazing and stupid traditions long enough to act with out questioning... witness hazing at its worst, and i was about to deploy to another country were they can just friendly fire my ass. I would know because those marines getting out were More..

  • 8 tours! That's a lot of wading through the mud, the blood, and the beer! He's a victim of our cultural ethics which places guilt on killing, even if it's an enemy you're killing. Headhunters in Borneo, ancient Greeks, Persians, Romans, Vikings, Vandals, etc., didn't have that kind of guilt. They had glory. Just a cultural thing.

  • They should put all these bureaucrats, congressmen, senators and representatives and their children into the war that they have created. Fucking lying and deceiving piece of shit motherfuckers have brought this not only upon the US men and women who have to put themselves through the meatgrinder but upon millions of people in those countries who either have lost or will lose their lives for no good reason. But there is no end to this horseshit, the general population opposes these wars but they More..

  • I think soldiers should be screened and prepared for the horrors of war. Different people have different coping mechanism to deal with it, but some take it very personal.

    • @truebrit49 True, but eight tours could wear on any one.

    • @ghostofjw Exactly, the War On Terror's in what its tenth year?

That's pretty exceptional by historic standards

    • @truebrit49 Very true. Know a guy who saw and did a lot of thins in Nam, but he just doesn't like to talk about it. Other than that he seems completely fine. His friend was a cook and saw no combat at all but he acts like hes seen crazy stuff and comes off like Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump.

    • @truebrit49 Ahem. When you find that screening process or test .. Let the me know.. No ONE can ever know exactly how they will react during and after the horrors of war or how someone else will!! The military weeds what they can out..and I think it will always only go so far..

  • I feel sorry for the ranger but it's pretty selfish for him to leave his child without a father. That alone should have given him reason to go on with his life. Suicide is a selfish way out.

    • @Epic_Beard_Man, selfish it may be but in order to understand how much hurt they've gone through, you would have to see what they have seen and experienced and Im sure the pain is so unbearable that they've decided to leave this world and their families.

    • @Epic_Beard_Man

He was a very brave and caring man, who obviously believed his family could do better without him.
      He only took himself out.

    • @Epic_Beard_Man im sure if he could salvage his life for his wife and kids he could've. It's selfish for the army to keep these men on the front line when the alarm bells are deafening that they are suicidal.
