Way back in the day when I had training in riot control while in the military we were taught to march on line and CONTINUALLY point and thrust our rifles at the rioters (when dispersing them). And I believe that was with fixed bayonets.

Well, as a former officer, I would have to say that the officer was illuminating what and who was in front of him, probably to check and make sure our enraged citizen videographer was actually holding a camera and not a weapon. Once that was established, he doesn't illuminate the guy again. Those that see something else here have a large imagination. Nothing to see here, move along, move along......
As far as the Occupy folks across the country, seems to me that they are causing cities to spen More..

@Phil H Morrow do you knwo the policies of this police force? perhaps it was against policy and the officer moved after he realized he was on camera.

He wasn't aiming his rifle at you son. He was aiming his flashlight...that was attached to his rifle.

@Flashovr A Judge would disagree,you don't need a weapon to point a flashlight.

Ok, so police have guns, riot gear, Police are here to protect citizens, but instead they have thier guns pointed at them, so who is behind the police, whoever is behind them is who they are protecting, What are we paying them for???

Really Phil? Does the "dont point a gun you do not intend to shoot" rule go away because its got a flashlight attached to it? Shitty careless cop in this instance....get a regular separate flashlight for "illuminating"

@sandnsky You fail to recognize the difference between basic gun safety and Crowd Control Policy and Procedures. You may not like flashlights on the ends of guns by police, but there they are, and if you spend any time to take training for crowd control, you would see the extreme restraint these guys tolerate. When a possible threat is observed, it needs to be identified immediately and all possible actions are brought in readiness. Once the flashlight illuminated the camera, the threat was res More..

@Phil H Morrow i don't think the end of a loaded weapon is the best place for a flashlight you need to see a crowd. i couldn't really tell whether his finger was on the trigger or not, but why take the chance? imo it isn't safe, and if it is procedure than that procedure needs to be reevaluated.

If a police officer did that to me and I was armed, I would shoot and kill that officer at first opportunity.
Doesn't matter if it's loaded with bean bags, taser shells or whatever. You don't know that when you have a taclight beaming you in the face. He's risking the safety of the crowd and of his fellow officers by being careless with his weapon.

@rumplestiltskin I wonder what kind of fucked up training you have to have before you ignore basic gun safety rules that anyone who has ever handled a weapon knows to follow.

@rumplestiltskin Your lack of understanding target ident with illumination shows in spades. A tactical flashlight on a weapon is used to identify threats, and the whining camera guy was illuminated to check what he was holding, a weapon or a camera.... Once that was established, the flashlight was turned off. I would believe that whining camera guy was looking for a confrontation, and when all he got was a quick looksee at his camera, he used the whining to cover his lack of understanding polic More..

Then you would be guilty of murder and I for one would have no sympathy when you get executed. Who are you to be judge, jury and executioner? Having a light shining in your face is a pretty poor reason for you to retaliate with lethal and illegal force. You idiot.

@simcal It's mounted on a shotgun you dumbass. If the taclight is in your face it means the cop is aiming his shotgun at you. That's why the crowd reacted because there was no reason, and that's why I would shoot.

@Phil H Morrow And you seem to misunderstand that the cop was aiming a shotgun at his face at point blank range. Laws and policies goes out the window as soon as someone does that. And yes, I've been in that situation. I have no doubts about my statements and I never will. I would shoot to kill.
To answer your questions. I wouldn't be armed at a protest because weapons are disallowed that kind of use here. But I would be if I was in america where this gun toting shit seems to be ok.
Two, diffe More..
