Recently, the number of volunteers helping us rebuild along the Mississippi Gulf Coast reached 500,000. This is remarkable. The population of the three counties devastated by Katrina is around 400,000.
I made this video 9 months ago, These volunteers are the faces of hope and help us maintain the energy and fire needed to rebuild our lives after the horrendous devastation in Mississippi caused by Hurricane Katrina.
We in Mississippi started digging out soon after the winds died down. This video also thanks our police and fire departments, the US Armed Forces, the Federal government, and the utility companies.
This is my thank you to the country that has some of the most generous people in the world. They give of their money but more importantly: they give their time.
I salute and thank my fellow countrymen: the people of the United States of America. Thank you!
