Owner or the breed of dog?

Pack of dogs attack dog walkers in Galveston

HOUSTON (KTRK) --
There was another dog attack in Galveston. This time, a pack of four pit bulls targeted two dog walkers.

The Galveston County Daily News reports that the dogs attacked at the condos on Galveston's East End.

First, they went after a woman's Corgi-mix breed, who suffered a few
bites and scratches. Minutes later, the dogs attacked a miniature husky
and her owner. The husky needed surgery for her wounds. It's
the third dog attack in a month on the island. The first was by a pair
of Rottweilers and the second by a pit bull that got loose.

  • Who is to blame? The owner, bottom line. Once you obtain and control of a breed that is capable of severely injuring up to death you are fully responsible. As a pet owner you have to account for variables. Those may include unprovoked attacks, strength, ability and deadliness. I don't give a shit if Fido sleeps with your infant. This is no different than someone that owns a tiger and it's playful and friendly around the family and visitors. Then the next day it guts the neighbor. You have to t More..

Yes, but a dog is used for self defence and effectively.

I have a dog, I haven't seen her for two years, she is a big Akita shepherd cross that is strong like you wouldn't believe! and smart!
If she jumps the fence and eats someones face I will be responsible.
Still, though I have no care and control of the animal, I am so glad she is there!
      Loaded weapon...yup!

  • I have a scar on my leg from fifteen years ago, I was fighting/playing with a buddy, his dog (a Rottie) clamped down and gave a shake....that was a warning and I heeded it!
I love dogs, but if they are not controlled they can be so dangerous that killing them is the only option...sadly.

    • @pootin

Seem to be a lot of these lists around, usually not quoting official sources.

      Here's one I found

Top 10 deadliest animals in the world, by number of human fatalities per year

1 Mosquito, about 800,000 from malaria transmission alone
2 Dogs, 55,000 from rabies transmission alone
3 Tsetse fly, 50,000 from transmitting diseases like human sleeping sickness
4 Snakes, at least 20,000 from venomous bites
5 Scorpions, 3,250 from venomous stings
      6 Elephants, 500
      7 Croc More..

  • Owners....Why is this even a question.

O that's right there are people out there that want to wipe out a breed completely cause they want to feel like a god for having control over something and killing an animal fulfills that sick desire
