As long as it's the other guys head exploding. I like verbage that excludes words like murder the mother or kill the coke-sacker. It sounds much nicer to say "Cleared to engage".
It's a great miniseries. No unbelievable heroics or seemingly magical killing abilities, just realism. Made by the same guy that made The Wire. Based on a book by a guy embedded with the First Recon Battalion as they invaded Iraq. The guy was embedded for rolling stone and wrote a great series of articles:
Fun fact: the spotter was a real marine in the battalion that Evan Wright was embedded with. He was brought on board as a military adviser but eventually was cast to play himself on the miniseries.
You know. knowng this series was produced by HBO films I thought I'd give it a chance anyways. So, I went out and rented the DVD series. Must say, HBO did not disappoint me in the least. It was the same ol' tired left wing anti-military BS. It was full of anti-American imagery. The gung-ho types were typecast as a bunch of incompetent redneck, trigger happy, baby killers. The "thoughtful" marines were of course the heroes of the series. Even had a shot of a Marine reading Noam friggin Chomsky for Christs sake!

Nichiren Buddhism is the Scientology of Buddhist thought.
Nam My%u014Dh%u014D Renge Ky%u014D chanting during the first shot is laughable. Is this supposed to give the impression the sniper is a lotus petal?

looks like a good show, but they messed up the shot as seen through the snipers scope. His optic was shielded not fully open like the camera shows.

They missed to show one thing of the reality.
The goofing around and hollering.
