WEST PALM BEACH — Two men pushed their way into a Greenacres motel in February, robbed twin brothers at gunpoint, then sexually assaulted a woman before taking her with them as they fled, according to police reports.
Darnell J. Mendez, 17, of Boynton Beach, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts each of robbery with a firearm and false imprisonment and one count each of burglary and aggravated battery.
Courtney Grant, 22, of Wellington, was arrested March 18 and charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm.
A report said a witness claimed the 32-year-old West Palm Beach woman allegedly assaulted and kidnapped was in on the robbery. Jail records do not show her being charged.
Greenacres officials did not return calls today.
This morning, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras ordered Mendez held without bond.
The judge noted Mendez currently is on probation.
Brothers Chad and Brett Chavez, 21, who live together in Wellington, told the investigators Feb. 18 they'd been at Paul's Motel, 5445 Lake Worth Road, with a woman they knew only as "Sally," when the two men, who they knew, came to the door, pulled guns and pushed their way in.
The assailants demanded money, ordered the brothers to strip and get into a bathtub, and pistol whipped them, the report said.
The younger of the two assailants, later identified as Mendez, then forced "Sally" to perform a sex act.
The two took $500 and a cellphone, then left, saying they were taking "Sally" with them. She later was let go.
Another woman later told police she had overheard "Sally" and two the men discuss plans to "rob the twins," the report said.
