May 13 - A car bomb near the office of a leading Kurdish party in northern Iraq kills at least 50 people and wounds 70 others.

The blast took place near the local office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Makhmour, a town near the Kurdish city of Arbil, the capital of the autonomies region of Kurdistan.

The blast came four days after a truck bomb killed at least 15 people in the nearby city of Arbil, capital of the autonomous Iraqi region of Kurdistan.
