The Odeon Cinema Bradford - Save The Old Cinema

The continued saga of the fate of the Odeon or New Victoria Cinema in the centre of Bradford, photographs you may not have seen and reasons why we should keep this important and iconic building in the city.

Not my video but felt that it deserves a mention to let the world know about the current situation in Bradford. The people of Bradford want this cinema saved but the council and other authorities are insistant that it is demolished.

  • We've been protesting for years to keep this gem.

They lied about its structural integrity and now unfortunately their strategy has been to leave it to rot until they can factually claim that it is unsafe to use. Bradford used be one of the industrial architectural gems of Europe but too much corruption in the council/ local government gave building contracts to profit hungry/shite/unimaginative developers.

Saltaire is like a mini-Bradford that hasn't been destroyed and it is infested with Le More..

    • @kingofthebox My first trip to the Odeon was in 1974 to see Herby Rides Again. The local rag T&A ran a competition to win tickets to see the film and I was one of the lucky kids to win tickets.
It is amazing how a building in Bradford can be totally gutted by fire making it structually unstable but is then partially restored. The Odeon has never been on fire and in know way is it structually unstable. This is one big cover up by the so called Bradford Council.
