Its in my best interest to hire those who are best qualified, and have the best history of being responsible, and accountable. This concept is completely unreasonable for quite a few people.
Being a felon certainly does not rule you out, per se. However, typically felons have horrible job history, and bad attitudes. All things being equal, I'd prefer to have someone in my store that does not have a history of violent, sociopathic behavior, or theft (yea, a little redundant).
When given the choice between someone whom has great references, a good attitude, and no unexplained gaps in job history; and someone whom none of these things can be said about, who do you pick?
