ah Les chevaliers du ciel....the horsemen of the sky.... a french Top Gun with no Cheeseburgers and plus de Roquefort. but we have to give them props...thou awesome movie just like hollywood how a young airman can afford a porsche 911 turbo. ahhh... dreamland.
Israel destroyed ALOT of top-notch russian equipment with the old f1. It's all about pilot skill. You can hand 2 people the same piece of equipment, one will do well, the other will do poorly.
In the Iraq-Iran war , Iraqi f1s downed SEVERAL Iranian f14 Tomcats (Yes, the ones the US has that are supposed to be absolutely perfect).
Quoted comment by savagesteve13: Israel won all its 1967 and 1973 wars with Mirage jets. The Argentine AF, despite being outclassed still managed to sink 3 british ships and shoot down 6 harriers with French Mirages and Super Etendards.
Sea Harriers shot down 21 aircraft with no air-to-air losses themselves, although six Sea Harriers were lost to ground fire and accidents.
Harriers have proven time and time again how good they are against other fighters, that why the US navy made them under licence then undated them. And it will be arounf for a few more years yet.
Quoted comment by Cupertino: The movie is "Les chevaliers du ciel", named "Sky Fighter" in US.
Sky Fighters? I don't know much French, but doesn't "Les chevaliers du ciel" translate to "Knights of the Sky" in English? Anyway, good movie. It's great to watch with surround sound. They used real French pilots for movie. Most of the flying scenes were shot on Bastille Day (when military planes are allowed to be flown like this).
Quoted comment by Achtung!: i love the mirage 2000. everything the french create they do with style and beauty, even if it's just a killing machine like this fighter jetplane. also they have this nice kind of patriotism which isn't trying to scare anybody. can't understand why many americans hate the french. ALLEZ!
Agreed. I personally have a French citizenship as well (French family members). But wouldn't the Mirages in the video have jettisoned their external fuel pods in a real dogfight? Those things seriously lessen the speed and maneuverability of the fighters.
Quoted comment by coldblue9mm: Hell, I love the French! They helped us break loose from British rule! And the Statue of Liberty rocks! You got to love the French!

The french however made for some excitement by providing the argentineans with Super Etendards armed with exocet missiles.

shittiest air plane movie ever everything in it is bullshit
1 : you can't shoot a plane that close or you blow up to because of the destroyed plane parts.
2 : Pilots will never shot if the airbase don't allow them to.
3 : Air Air fight with no missiles is a joke.
4 : they are alot too close of eachother.
5 their faces dont seem to feel the G's
And more and more ..

and yes, in a real dogfight they would have thrown the fuel tanks away 500KG each slows the plane too much..

1. Its a movie
2. Any pilot who feels aggressed automatically has the right to engage.
3. Its a movie
4. Dog fights took place for many decades before missile came out and a pilot at close range still prefers a cannon.
5. Its a movie; no Gs.
