The MiG-29 was developed to counter American fighters such as F-15 Eagle, and F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Su-27's closest US counterpart is the F-15 Eagle.
First Flights:
F-15 : 1972 (27 July)
F-16 : 1974 (20 January)
SU-25 : 1975 (22 February)
SU-27 : 1977 (20 May)
MiG-29 : 1977 (6 October)
According to the data above, F-16 and F-15 are older than russian counterparts and all of the aircrafts above both American and Russian are actively used. So it is not true to label rus More..
