The idea that our fight in Iraq is for our freedom is a highly abstract but it allows people to summarize without thinking. You could argue that our fight there is for our freedom to get to our oil that the Iraqis unfortunately built their country on.

The police do not open fire on protesters. If you're referring to the recent incidents at the RNC, then you are once again wrong. 90 percent of the protesters marched the streets without incident. You happened to see the media grabbing whores that went out there for one purpose...to grab the media spotlight and try to paint the picture of oppression and police brutality, when in reality, all they did was go out there to try and challenge the police and shut down a city.
You of all people should be able to see beyond the snapshot you saw online or in the television media. After all....who would be interested in watching a bunch of protesters protesting peacefully? You people get what you ask for. You want the media to show people being teargassed....the "protesters" went out to provide the scene and the media, in turn, provided you with the entertainment.
Look at any legitimate story on the protests and you'll see that, in fact, most of the protests and protesters marched without incident. However, I don't consider groups of idiots marching down the street right at the police chanting, "**** the police" to be legitimate protesters with any legitimate cause.
As a matter of fact, we've seen shining examples of this since the war began. Americans have marched by the hundreds of thousands without incident, so please provide me some consistent and concrete proof of peaceful assemblies being besieged by the brutal jack boot wearing American nazi police.

john - by fighting you have inspired and trained lots of men in arms, bombs , guerilla tactics. And of course the obvious nationalistic opposition has also helped recruitment. Bin laden and his cronies seem to be working relatively unmolested by American forces, Afghanistan is lost and Iraq will need reinvading in 10 years or less to keep your puppet regime in power.

-Iraq started selling oil in Euros instead of Dollars (2001). Guess what they're dealing with now?
-Iran doesn't accept U.S. Dollars. (evil, terrorists, etc..)
-Venezuela supports offering global oil trade in Euros (evil Chavez, etc...)
-Afghanistan is the best route by which to export the Central Asian republics' oil and gas, as long as you have a pro Western government that is...
Now, you try telling the plebs that's a reason to start a war and see how much support you get...hence all the bullshit (freedom, liberation, human rights, terrorism, wmd's, nuclear programmes...)
