LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich.
A man who police say was smoking a crack pipe and laughing at officers as he led them on highway chase Wednesday ended the pursuit by fatally shooting himself.
The 25-year-old Lansing man shot himself in the temple with a revolver while driving his Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on Interstate 96 in Oakland County's Lyon Township.
The suspect's vehicle crashed into a retaining wall about 4:20 p.m. No one else was injured.
Police said the incident began in Ingham County with reports of a motorist driving erratically, and later involved Livingston County deputies.
Deputies said they saw the man smoking a crack pipe and laughing at them as they signaled for him to pull over.
