Turkey Launches New Attack On Kurdish Rebels.
This item updates item 'Turkish army announces raids on PKK targets in Iraq'
Turkish forces have attacked rebel Kurdish positions across the border in northern Iraq. Iraqi sources in the region said Turkish warplanes bombed up to ten villages. At least one woman was reported killed.
The airstrikes began before dawn, and lasted several hours. Numerous buildings including a school were destroyed.
Ankara has deployed around 100,000 troops and armour along its southern border with Iraq, threatening a ground invasion if Baghdad doesn't rein in PKK rebels in the north. They have used bases near the border to launch their own attacks inside Turkey.
