  • As corrupt as the US Gov. is, are you surprised...? I'm not...

  • Lol I drive a 1.6 Bluemotion Estate for work and yes the diesel gauge doesn't go down but fuck me it's slow. The boot (trunk) is bigger than a 5 series Bmw Touring.

Anyways, makes no difference with the cost of diesel in the UK, it would be cheaper to do my work in a Corvette on Americas fuel prices ;-)

  • Hey dumbass, a UK gallon is not the same as a US gallon, it's about 20% more. Take that and the price of Diesel Fuel into account and realize it isn't available in the US because nobody wants it, so no dealerships are ordering it.

If you really are this pissed off, why would you even bother with a VW and not get a Volt?

  • Surprisingly Germany has better roads than we do in US , so the tax on the gallon of gas doesn't really hold water. As much tax as it is collected at the pump , these roads should be paved in gold. Eh, but who.'s counting.
What I do notice is the gas prices tend to go down near elections, strange phenomenon.

  • thats the reality of politics, it applies to all facets of American life. The truth is there are things that the gov. does not want to fix period. If they did there would be a lot more common sense applications to solve some of our problems. These things will not be logically addressed: fuel efficiency vs. fuel cost, illegals and border issues, and the continual incremental increase in taxes. The only way these issues will be seriously addressed is when the population bands together and demands More..

  • Yep. This pisses me off. I have viewed this video before. Americans are really taking it in the as* by our government..I wonder if we couldn't order the car, or buy it, down in Mexico and then just drive it north to home.

  • It is because it is diesel, majority of the cars in Europe are, as just about every car made in the US is available in a diesel version in Europe. The only logical guess I have is that diesels have excellent torque, but are shy in the horsepower dept. And Americans want those big number horsepower cars. That is my guess.

    • @jfm8561 Diesels are no longer shy in the bhp department, they have been "up to par" for quite some time now... As a matter of fact, duramax diesel engines are effin monsters, they're both very powerfull torque wise and put out an incredible amount of horsepower as well.

    • @Leaker89 The big Diesels are, dyno and tuning is what do for a living, but we are talking about small 4cyl Diesels, the vehicle he is referring to does 0-60 in something like 12-13 seconds, not exactly up to par.

    • @jfm8561 True, but he's talking about an "eco friendly" diesel... I was referring to ( modern ) diesels in general...

    • @Leaker89 I hear ya, and yes it is easy to make power in the large displacement diesels, with just a fueling tune you can easily ad 150 hp. Personally I think it is only a few years away from US production. A few more tweaks to get them to run on ultra low sulfur fuel and proper dpf filters, they will be here soon

      I hope.

  • I have a 2011 chevy duramax, and added the superchip to it and now get 15 more mpg. all you have to do is add a different programmer to your engine. it cost $400 for the superchip programmer and it gave it 100+ more hp.
