CLARENDON COUNTY, SC -- He was hired to help kids cope while their parents were away at war.
However, some South Carolina parents say, the actions of a camp counselor could have killed their children.
17-year-old Eddie Riley is facing several charges including eight counts of assault and battery.
According to police, Riley taught the campers to play the choking game.
That's where you choke yourself until you pass out.
No one died while doing this, but a lawyer for one of the victim's says the damage is done.
According to the Center for Disease Control, in the past 12 years 82 children have died after playing the deadly game.
Of those 95 percent of kids played the game alone.
