This is really an amazing photo

The closest known approach was in 2003, when Earth and Mars were
separated by only 56 million km. On the opposite end of the scale, Mars
and Earth can be 401 million km apart when they are in opposition and
both are at aphelion. The average distance between the two is 225
million km.
