Loyal dog guards friends body for over a week
A broken-hearted dog who has stood guard over his female mate's body for more than a week after she was hit by a car has been adopted by villagers in Filippovka in the Perm region of Russia.
"It's very sad. He won't let anyone near her and he keeps trying to warm her up with his own body."
"We call them Romeo and Juliet. There will be plenty of homes for him when he realises she's not coming back," said local Lyudmila Laisheva.

Several years ago I passed a Boxer and dead Dalmatian on the side of the highway. I had to drag the Dalmatian down into the grass because that Boxer refused to leave the Dalmatian's side and cars were zipping by literally 7 or 8 feet away from all of us. I put an ad in the paper and tracked down the owner. Turns out the Boxer and Dalmatian lived next to each other and somehow managed to escape their yards simultaneously. That Boxer had more loyalty and concern for his buddy than half the mothe More..

@Juujigun Just when my faith in humanity sinks to a new level, comments like these make me think there are decent people out there who try not to screw others, but make the effort to ease another's loss.
Well done sir. Wish I could vote you up.
Humanity, it seems, looks better.

A dog will always be far more protective, reliable and loyal than any person you'll ever meet. They don't understand the same fears or logic's that we do and they can't be reasoned with about why they do things. That said; they will simply be there for you or in this case his partner no matter what. It's a sad video, but it was worth the view...

@Qwak Qwak - it's OK, you can have the best of both worlds - a wife AND a dog!

Who ever says that animals don't have feelings or emotions don't have any idea what they are talking about. This video is a testament to that. If the dog was not attached to his lady friend, he would have moved on as soon as she was hit.

Now that is loyalty.
The sad thing is, I'm not at all surprised a dog can show more loyalty then any given human.

Sad, but dogs define the word loyalty. I hope the dog finds a nice family.

I had two farm dogs who were sisters and ALWAYS together. After 14 years, one got sick and went off to die alone. The other one cried for her every day and night and was very distraught. They use to chase cars down the gravel road but always stayed OUT of the road. After two weeks of crying , my dog ran in the middle of the road right in front of a truck and got killed. I truly believe she was so heartbroken for her sister that she didn't want to live anymore.
