US Soldier Takes Direct Hit On His Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH
Part of channel(s): Afghanistan (current event)

Soldiers of Alpha Company 2-327th Infantry 1st 101st Brigade are ambushed in Kunar Province Afghanistan .The round that strikes the soldier penetrates his helment and hits his head . In ballistic testing, while the helmets will stop a 9mm round, the impact indents the helmet approximately 1.5. inches. If the helmet were against the skull when the bullet strikes, that indentation is transferred to the skull with resultant injury and/or fracture. Holding the helmet permanently off the skull with shock-absorbing pads reduces or eliminates that scenario.

  • all this these guys go through, and we have these poor titty baby gangsta wannabe hoods all over this country cry about how hard their lives are and how badly treated they are. send their asses overseas and put them on the front line to show off just how brave and badass they are.

    • with the wide gap in economic classes in this country, i'm sure there is a large percentage of troops from lower to low income origins. those are the ones who actually do something to get out of their original situation and do something with their lives for the good of themselves and others. I was referring to the ones we hear about on a daily basis in the news, see movies based on their activities, and read and view videos on the internet on sites like WSHH, who rejoice in their mental image of More..

    • We want to win this war though. These soldiers are heroes fighting for their country. The little wannabe gangters are fighting for their crack rocks.

    • Volunteering to be canonfodder hunting skilled ghost fighters for corporate interests doesn't make you brave but kinda stupid I'd say. This war wouldn't even be going on if young men were tought some perspective and wisdom instead of exploiting the hormone changes in their teenage years by getting them all rowdy for war. In 20 years when they finally matured these guys will wonder why the fuck they ever volunteered for this shit if they aren't allready wondering. By that time history will have j More..

  • I hope every bullet these men shoot, 10 smelly taliban die in pain!

    • By now the Taliban are ordinary civilians forced into fighting by the Taliban and the western forces alike. You're not fighting extremists, just the people of Afghanistan. And they obviously know how to handle invaders on their home soil. Western pull out is just a matter of time and we all know it.

    • That's not really true, if we all looked like Afghans, dressed like them, spoke arabic and used their weapons. Then it would be hard for the taliban to see who we are. "They know how to handle invaders". The cowards way.

    • Define "coward way".

I'd call sitting in a advanced fighterjet 3 miles high in the sky pushing buttons and targeting unarmed "combatants" the most coward way of warfare immaginable. It's the USA way of warfare and it only symbolizes their true colour.

  • man! why isnt that CROW system on all vehicles?

    • whats the crow system ,is it some sort of radio/signal blocker?

    • I think it's a remote controlled weapon station, the gunner stays safe inside the vehicle and is less exposed to fire.

    • Common Remote Operating Weapon Station (CROWS). Gun, thermal and day camera, laser range finder and stabalising gyro's on top, cable through the roof and a display and control panel/joystick to control it from the inside. Very pricey though compared to a normal pintle mount. Plus you have to go up to reload it anyway. I think Kongsberg (Norway) makes the CROWS for the U.S. forces.

  • God bless them. The sad thing is, the day after our forces leave Afghanistan the place will revert to its status as a stone-age rathole filled with illiterate psychotics, terrorists, and drug lords. What a f'n waste.

  • Noone has a fire extenguisher in that whole convoy? In need of one for sure... Maybe they'll consider that in the future.

    • Was thinking the same thing . Vehicle full of fuel and ammo on fire might be a bad thing .

    • the car is already too fucked to save it, the would rather use the men and the time for securing the site

      Posted Sep-22-2010 By

    • Look again the vehicle seemed to be in fair condition minus the fact that it was on fire... even so it would likely be cannibalized for parts if not completely repaired... Using a fire extinguisher would be prudent, and most definitely a safety measure considering all of the ordinance that was being used/stores in and near the vehicle. But yeah I do understand their actions either way, one cannot always put out fires while under fire. Still seems like they should have a fire extinguisher.

    • I was thinking of picking up sand/dirt with my water but then something in the back of my mind said, "Why bother. The enemy will only burn tires in the streets to lure me out with my sand in hand or see me whiting the killzone with my extingusher. Nah. I'd rather the goverment see this and pick it up with the taxpayers cost." I as an American am glad to cover any cost for the American Solider. Not NATO. Not UN. Not other country military. WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!! You reading this?

  • When they come home from their deployments, if you meet any of them, be sure you thank them for their service. It may not seem like a lot, but it means a lot to them.

  • Why do the USA keep patrolling, giving the taliban opportunities every day to set ambushes ? Why not use all technology available to track them down and destroy them ? Because the war must last for the powerful weapon lobby...
