Miners in the Ohio Valley who stood with Romney when he visited their
mine are fighting back against what they are calling blatant falsehoods
in Obama’s campaign ads about them. They’ve even written a letter to Obama which they read below.
BEALLSVILLE - Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine
said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term the war on
coal - and to stop spreading mistruths about them. Miners
gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obamas energy
and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs.
Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that
outlines some of their concerns. The miners said Obamas campaign
team is running ads filled with blatantly false statements about the
miners regarding their participation in Republican presidential
candidate Mitt Romneys August campaign stop at the Century Mine.
These ads assert that the miners were forced to attend the event by the mines
owner, Robert Murray. There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our
participation in this event, mostly started by a local shock jock radio
host, the miners letter to Obama states.
Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter?
We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads. This summer, Murray Energy Corp., parent company of the Beallsville mine,
cut or relocated 56 workers with the closure of the Red Bird West mine
near Brilliant. Murray also cut 29 mining jobs from The Ohio Valley Coal
Co.s Powhatan No. 6 Mine. All of this was done, Robert Murray said,
because of Obamas war on coal. Murray then hosted the August
Romney campaign stop in Beallsville, during which many miners appeared
behind Romney as the former Massachusetts governor spoke about the need
to protect coal mining jobs.

Looks like the hope and change has turned into lie and cheat. The American people deserve more from a president and we got the shaft instead.

When you all flip on your light switches in your houses and just take for granted that there will be light because you will it to be without giving it even a passing thought, think again.
These are the men who make that happen every minute of every day and night in this country.
They risk their very lives deep below ground to make that happen for you.
85% of America's electricity comes from coal, and -CLEAN- coal it is, much better than in the past and much cheaper than any other source.
Sto More..

The future of coal is rapidly dimming but it's not the EPA's doing as you might think. A cheaper and cleaner means of power generation is rapidly taking the place of coal.

@ValleyBlacksmith, OK, I get it. Anything that counters your stated facts has to be propaganda.
The government reports that 42% of our electricity is generated by coal. That's fact, not propaganda.
More info on production costs.

Obama's Chicago style politics. Lies, distortions, falsehoods, you name it. Anything goes. This is what Chicago politics is all about and now it's in the White House. And to make matters worse, Obama's a flaming socialist.

Under Obamma The Federal Regulations that kill biz have quadrupled. The EPA is out of control.
I would much rather see these guys providing me with clean coal energy than some Yuppie fuck stain at The Defunct Solyndra hoping to make energy. Hope in one hand and shit in the other. Which one fills up faster.

The reason coal sales are down is that natural gas is so much cheaper, cleaner and available. THAT is what is threatening coal miners jobs.
And if they want deregulation of the coal industry, lets start with worker safety first, because that would affect the petitioners more directly. Burning coal causes smog and haze hundreds of miles from where it is burnt. so, people who are not benefiting from it's use feel the greater negative impact.
