This is crap.
The aircraft was certainly shot down by a SAM - not sporadic ground fire.
UPDATED: The SANA statement says anti-aircraft artillery. This includes SAMs.
The shooting on this video does not match any of the heavy AAA guns that I know of.

@buttkracken that is correct. This jet would have been testing the SAA air defence capabilties, hence the heavy handed response. The Ba'ath/Assad regime knows what is at stake; weak air defence = Turkish/Nato air strikes in support of the rebels, exactly as what happened in Libya.

@metesunshine yeah thats true, you don't want to stregthen Israel, but removing Assad in the long term will stregthen Syria. They will no longer have a hopelessly corrupt and inefficent state. Real democracy allows real economic growth.

@kubilay_cCc yes that is true. I do not understand how the Generals allowed this to happen. Erdogan is the worst thing to happen to Turkey in 100 years. He needs to be removed and Turkeys secular, succesful democracy mantained, now more then ever, given the rising tide of Islamic fundementalism in the region.
