  • Actually for an asian driver he did REALLY well! He had just about a second to react and steer into the pillar instead of hitting the car in front, and he was barely even in the car. GOOD JOB, not easy to react that fast, and he actually considered others!!!

  • And that's why you don't start your engine nor touch the "controls" without being properly seated... He was lucky.

  • Looks like he reached down there with his leg and punched it. After putting it in gear with his right arm. WTF??

  • hundred years we had cable throttles that worked great.. These new electric ones require at least 2 more sensors and a computer to run.. I don't like them.

  • I wonder what kind of car that is??

BTW why didn't the air bag deploy, it looked like he was going fast enough.

    • @Kmanbay He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, and the car detects that.

It might not make much sense, but it's a safety feature so that you don't take the risk of breaking your neck with an accidental deployment.

That is a pretty intelligent way to design it.

      Thanks

i remember seeing a father on TV just after air-bags came out, he said his daughter reached over from the back seats too change channels on the radio, at that moment the car was hit and the bag deployed, i think he said he was doing no more than 10mph but the bag hit his daughter under the chin and broke her neck, heart-breaking watching him tell his story...

    • @spliffy1966 Yeah, but car safety regarding the use of air-bags has improved a lot in the past years. From thing's like the sensor that knows if there is someone sitting and using seatbelt, to those mechanisms to turn off some of the airbags in case a baby-chair is installed.

At least now the cars don't fire their airbags under certain types of crash, like a slow bump or when the car is hit from behind.

i am not knocking air-bags, they are 1 of the best inventions yet, yes the tech behind the bags have grew alot, they even weight you so they know how much too inflate the bag.
the father was not blaming the air-bag system, he just didnt know how powerful they could be way back then. he was advising other parents too be careful with kids in the car.
this just reminded me of that poor guy, his daughter was about 8 years old if my memory is correct (tho that would surprise me.lo More..
