when being late. School doors are closed when class begins with no one allowed to enter. No excuse whatsoever. Japan is the same. I climbed walls when I was a kid. Big difference between being late for school and being late for class.

they lock the doors to keep them In , which btw can turn into a real nice bonfire one day, if something should ever happen, Lucky will be the ones that already left school through the window, the second ones will be the ones that know how to do it, the unlucky will be the ones piling against the doors as the hallways fill with smoke,they're usually the ones that dont question the system
