Apple charlotte
Ingredients
1kg/2¼ lb cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 lemon, zest and juice only
2-3 tbsp light brown soft sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
8-10 slices good quality brown bread, crusts removed
50g/2oz butter, melted, plus extra for greasing
Preparation method
Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.
Place the apples, lemon zest and juice, sugar and cinnamon into a heavy-based saucepan over a medium heat. Cover and bring to a simmer. S More..
