They also can do live testing, just hang the engine onto a plane and take off and see whats going to happen, but i guess i wont be boarding that one ;)

This was a containment test. They use a small explosive charge to allow a blade to separate from the hub. The test is to see if the encasement will contain the turbine blades and not allow them to exit the engine. This perticular test looked successful. All turbine engines on airliners must undergo this testing.

You people are all wrong. This was a Scaffolding stability test to see if this structure can withstand the actual stress of a future jet engine test.
This setup passed with flying colors. The scaffolding engineers must be pleased. Bring on the real jet engine test! This sucker's ready to rock and roll.
