The Phalanx gun has been around a long, long time and is now outdated. The Russian 'Sunburst' missile defeats the Phalanx by flying in at supersonic speeds at extremely low level (a metre or so off the water) and has sufficient kinetic energy to sink a destroyer WITHOUT exploding its warhead, but of course it will.

@onepercent - RAM/SeaRAM (RIM-116) is the replacement system for Phalanx 20mm gun system. Sea Dart is an older British long range system.
