150,000 Mexican Soldiers Defect To Join Drug Cartels, Take Weapons With Them
-
-
MEXICO (North America) Authorities claim that 150,000 mexican army recruits have defected or went AWOL with their weapons to drug cartels since 2007. If this claim is true the mexican drug cartels would have armies of hoodlums bigger than some countries and could have enough manpower to take on the national army toe-to-toe.

Guns and weapons come in from blackmarkets also. These druglords have millions in cash. And plenty of sellers from Columbia and others they deal with. Not only Mexican army defectors but mercs and other trained militants looking for "work" wind up there. Good pay compared to anything else available,and most are drug users anyway so they work for the product the boss is pushing.

@GradySizematters Wrong. Drug cartels won't bother buying weapons from south america when the biggest arms manufacturer and seller is right next to them.

@montando_olas have you watched any TV latly? These guys manufacture military grade weapons out of a fucking garage today. And anything south of the boarder is a hell of alot cheaper then US made materials. And it still dosent mean OUR stockpiles arent dissapearing, stolen and sold on the market also.

@GradySizematters Contrary to popular american believe, there are not enough weapons and ammo in the region, to have such a big operation the cartels have.
Also, the weapons the cartels have are not found in Latin America. You won't find so many modern weapons in the region.

Jesus... That's ten large divisions. If there are US weapons in Mexico, they're military weapons.
BTW, the 1% sample is not a random sample. It's a sample of guns that can be traced, i.e. have documentation of some kind.

They nail the real Mexico gun problem. Guns came from the Mexican army. There is no way the cartel can get so many automatic rifles and grenade launchers from the regular gun stores in Texas.

@2Phast4Rocket
They don't get them from gun stores, the US gun dealers import the guns from Belarus or where ever the hell they come from and then smuggle pallets full of the things into the country.
