120 000 ft. Missile Launch - All Camera Views

01:32 - missile launch sound volume alert! One of the best missile videos made by civilians! Missile accelerates only for the first 10 seconds of flight, at a constant rate of 15G's (500 feet p/sec or 150 meters per second) and at the end of the 10th second it's travelling at 3200 ft/sec (960 m/sec) which is the velocity of an M-16 rifle ammunition and has reached an altitude of 25 000 feet (8 km) where rocket motors cut off after which the missile continues to climb using it's inertia only. Eventually it reaches 120 00 feet, or 36 kilometers!

  • So a bunch of American hobbyists, working out of suburban garages, produces a rocket that is superior to any produced by all of North Korea's best scientists and engineers. Ha. There are still more than a few smart, innovative and driven Americans in this country. If we can just get our fucking government out of the way, we'd be in very good shape.

  • That was awesome. I liked the dust cloud on takeoff, and shooting through the thin cloud deck. Also, they went to Tattooine to film it!

    I wonder what it takes to make the descent more controlled, without all the spin. Imagine that on a manned craft- the barf would be centrifuged out of you. In fact, I think I remember reading about high altitude parachute experiments in the '50s; I think they found it more stable to use a small drogue chute until a low altitude, then deploying the main.
