    US majority back Israel for some or all of these reasons (and more, I'm sure):

    1. We like underdogs and perceive Israel as outnumbered/outgunned/surrounded by enemies ("Remember the Alamo")

    2. In the wars that count ('67 and '73) we perceived Israel as the non-aggressor (and see #1)

    3. Europe was and to an extent is anti-Semitic. A certain minority in this country has the reputation for causing MUCH more negative things than the J More..
