The Left never misses an opportunity to rain on any parade. If ever there were a more dour, miserable, scrooge-like group of people in existence, we've yet to come across it.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Black Lives Matter charlatan Shaun King is out with a new opinion piece in the NY Daily News where he regurgitates hackneyed liberal protestations, namely that: Christmas is about consumerism and that Jesus Christ, if "not a myth," is not "white."




Further, according to King, who is white himself, Jesus Christ is used a tool "of white supremacy":

To be clear, Christmas in the United States, despite the name, has very little to do with Jesus Christ and everything to do with consumerism and gift giving.

However, side by side with Easter, it’s also the time when we are most likely to see depictions of Jesus used as tools of white supremacy.

In Atlanta, I see them everywhere I go. Jesus as a blond-haired, blue-eyed baby and his blue-eyed supermodel mother are ubiquitous and done without even a slight hint of humor. It's preposterous. It would truly be no different from depicting Christopher Columbus as a dark-skinned African or Thomas Jefferson as a long-haired Latino. People actually look a certain way.




Jesus was not a European.

Choosing to depict Jesus and his mother in a way other than reality is strange at best and nefarious at worst.

No, Shaun, choosing to depict Jesus and his mother the way that they are likely just boils down to upholding a long-adopted tradition without some devious plot lurking behind it.

Still, Shaun goes on to proudly proclaim how he corrects his own children when they point to a blond-haired surfer and say: "he looks like Jesus!" Trying to shake off his white privilege, the faux-activist also explains why Jesus likely looked more like a "Syrian refugee":

When we lived in California, I cringed when my children saw stringy blond-haired surfers with beards and they would blurt out to us, "Hey, he looks like Jesus!" I would have to stop and correct them and say, "No, he looks how white people want Jesus to look, but Jesus did not look like a California surfer dude."




It's not simply an honest mistake though.

When the man who is deemed the central figure of a religion and indeed the savior of the entire world is consistently portrayed to look like a Scandinavian sailor when he more likely resembled a Syrian refugee, it's being done to advance an Anglo-Saxon, white supremacist agenda.

There is merit to the claim that Jesus would have had ethnic features more reflective of his Semitic roots, but only a member of the Left would take such umbrage and personal offense at his more modern-day-depiction. What's more, only a member of the Left would choose Christmastime to disparage Christmas, label Jesus as "brown" or, more conveniently, a "Syrian refugee," and run-down Christians for the way in which they view their Lord and celebrate one their holiest of days.
