Canal jumper fined after falling on his face
West Midlands Police - This footage shows a 19-year-old man failing to jump over a canal towpath in Coseley. He was so embarrassed by what happened that he made up a story about being stabbed and reported it to police. He was fined £80 for wasting police time after we uncovered the footage. Detective Sergeant Jim Munro, from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, said: "He was lucky, because wasting police time carries a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment."
