  • Ok here's 100% proof that this is fake and a hoax.

    Look at the reflection in his glasses.....

    That square shape is of a "softbox." Softboxes are used for lighting scenes all the time in photography and film. The problem is softboxes didn't even EXIST until 1985.

    There is no possible way this was made in 1980 because of that.

    This hoax is BUSTED.

      PS: In answer to the many technical questions: the original footage was on a 3/4" U-matic tape which I digitized to FinalCutPro in HD through a MNR11 noise reducer. I re-EQ'd the soundtrack, added the subtitles and the "1980" in HD on FinalCutPro, exported it in HD and uploaded it to YouTube - that's actually my day job.

  • Video is too clean for 1980. Even at this resolution, you can tell it's digital and not videotape. If you're gonna buy all these vintage props for your hoax, why not go the extra step of transferring the clip to videotape and back?

      I find it hard to judge the authenticity of the video by its quality. We are watching the n-th generation copy of the tape that has strong compression artefacts. I am involved in digital video production for more than 10 years now and I can tell you, this video is of fairly poor quality. A French friend of him did the translation. He didn't make any cuts to the material. What you see is everything that was on the tape.

      From what the guy was saying, the uploader guessed the shooting year and added "1980" in the frame corner.
