Mr So had been subjected to a vicious attack after trying to stop former Beverley Grammar pupils Connor Ledger, 20, and his brother Jordan, 23, breaking into the University of Hull with Joshua Ham, 19.

The brothers will be sentenced later this month for punching, stamping and jumping on Mr So, before driving their car at him as he lay injured and bleeding on the ground.

Mr So told Hull Crown Court: "The doctors told me it would take three months but now it has been six and I'm still not fully recovered yet.

"I have got five metal plates in my face, how normal can I feel? They will stay there forever."

CCTV footage captured the gang as they entered the university grounds in the early hours of a November morning last year, urinating in the grounds before they began kicking down a door to the Venn building.

CCTV video: warning - violent scenes

Two of them went inside the building, undergoing renovation work at the time, while one remained outside as a lookout.

Security guard Mr So was on patrol outside the campus, awaiting the closure of the nightclub.

When his colleagues radioed him about the intruders, he went to investigate.

He disturbed the gang and chased them to the Old Grey Mare pub in Cottingham Road, west Hull.

Connor Ledger told him they were all students before attacking him with his brother.

Mr So was repeatedly attacked by them and was left injured on the ground.

They ran to their getaway car, a Renault Clio, and prepared to run him over until Mr So's colleagues arrived and pulled him out of the way, just in time.

Prosecutor Patrick Palmer said: "They attacked a defenceless security guard.

"The security guard, to his credit, went to see what was going on. Connor Ledger confronted him and claimed they were university students and then attacked him by repeatedly punching him.

"His brother Jordan then joined in. They got him down and brutally kicked him to the head and body.

"They ran to their car, leaving Mr So on the ground, having being badly kicked, in the exit of the pub car park.

"They got in the car and switched the lights to full beam and drove straight out through the exit.

"They drove at speed and the other security guards had to pull him out of the way and they made off."

Mr So suffered two fractured eye sockets and a broken jaw and nose.

His knuckles are still swollen.

Ham, a Leeds Metropolitan student and former Cottingham High School pupil, was acquitted by a jury at Hull Crown Court of grievous bodily harm after the prosecution alleged Ham had kicked at Mr So and joined in the attack.

Ham, of Dunswell, Beverley, has already pleaded guilty to criminal damage.

The Ledgers, of Budworth Park, Kingswood, have pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.

Connor Ledger has also admitted dangerous driving.

They have been warned an "immediate custodial sentence" is likely when they return to court later this month.
