      Syria's internecine conflict is its own affair. Neither side (are there only two?) is a fan of Israel, and Israel is obviously almost wholly without influence over these particular events.

      Personally, I've never felt sure the US should take either side, except that we absolutely must never support Assad. Until very recently, we've done little or nothing.
