BURLESON, TX -- A high-speed police chase came to a quick and fatal end in Burleson, Texas on Friday.

The chase began when police spotted 41-year-old James Vorhees driving a stolen truck.

When an officer attempted to pull him over Vorhees attempted to get away.

At times the chase reached speeds topping 80 miles per hour.

It ended when Vorhees swerved to dodge a spike-strip put down by police and slammed into an overpass pillar.

He was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital where he later died.
