(Sky News) Dozens of Palestinians have been injured in clashes with Israeli forces as thousands joined mass protests across the West Bank. The demonstrations were called to mark the anniversary of the "Nakba" - or catastrophe - the term the Palestinians use to refer to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Arabs during the creation of the Jewish State in 1948.

In Ramallah, thousands of Palestinians marched towards the Beitunia checkpoint after a rally in the centre of the city. Violence flared as youths threw stones at the Israeli soldiers guarding the crossing who responded with volleys of tear gas. (Click link for further info)
