Our full time airborne radiation monitor alarmed at 50 CPM during the 11:30pm Saint Louis storms. The unusually high airborne readings caused us to follow up with a surface swipe of a piece of sheet metal that had been left out in the rain. That swipe returned a reading of 91 TIMES greater than background radiation.

Is the assertion that this has something to do with Fukushima? Natural radon decay products rain out of the atmosphere regularly.

Our working risk mitigation theory is that Fukushima is steaming Radon out of the Japanese ground water, and that it is a harbinger of harder to detect longer half life radioactivity in the rain.
The results from the Lead cave tests will show if longer half life radioactivity is detectable (as it has been in the past)

If you're counting on the data to the point that it annoys you when its not there, it probably would be wise to pick up your own gear. Hopefully, you'll share what you find with your own gear in the future.
