Alberta is the most conservative province but not the only conservative province. Alberta is traditionally conservative, not neocon. We don't really have neocons in Canada. The other prairie provinces (adjacent to Alberta) tend to be fairly conservative as well. As do our atlantic provinces.
Canada isn't really that politically divided. Nowhere near the degree to which the US is divided. In the US, people want to kill each other over the parties they voted for. It's not nearly that bad here.
I'm not really sure about Ontario and taxes since I don't pay much attention to provincial politics (I live in Ontario).
Alberta is definitely the Texas of Canada (Alberta is oil-rich and conservative and full of cowboys). As for health care, there are people there pushing for privatized health care but it will probably never happen.
