Every week on a Monday morning I have my shoes polished by one of the many Afghans that ply their trade outside Central Station. They are very good at getting all the dogshit out of the crevices in the sole, they do it with their fingernails. Then a quick buff to bring the polish up, and all for 50 cents. They always demand more but a few good sharp slaps around the head always stops their complaints, as the Afghans are physically weak people and although most have learning difficulties, some of them can show remarkable intelligence and can even operate a computer, though few Afghans can actually perform productive tasks on the aforementioned apparatus, most resort to writing profane commentary when they are not grooming children via social media.
Another great thing about the Afghans in the Netherlands is their tenacity when it comes to cleaning public toilets. It has to be admired, how thoroughly they can have a freshly skidded pan looking like new.
Afghans I salute you ! The cleanest toilets, the shiniest shoes and the emptiest rubbish bins in the Netherlands can all thank the nation of Afghanistan for it's laborious mongol people who work so hard here without thanks.
More than 5000 dead pro govt soldiers in Afghanistan this year, highest number since 2001.Taliban is far from being defeated, and is actually making a comeback.
What is your take on this, and how do you see the future of Afg as the way things are going now?
