Great to meet another conservative. Subbed. Unable to thumb you until I get more points.
I like motorcycles, too. I had a head full of trivia of the most inane nature. Such as, when did H-D first offer all-chain drive as an option?
1912. Before then, it was leather belts. By 1913, it was standard equipment and stayed that way, pretty much until the blockhead (Evo). Even then, you might have a chain primary and neoprene secondary. I knew a guy with a 1990 Heritage Softail set up like that.
I knew another guy that re-built classic Goldwings. The first model was 1975 1/2. They were originally conceived to compete with the BMW Boxer, having the flat 4 (opposing stroke). So, the first ones came without fairing and bags.
People in Europe were dressing up boxers with bags and fairings and Honda thought wisely, "Hey, if we get a contract with the guy for bags and fairings, we should do well." That is how the Goldwing Aspencade got started.
Like I said, inane trivia.
